Black Swan Virus (Prevented). One of the many species of birds nesting in the wetlands has apparently become host to a virus not seen before in this part of the world. Black Swan Virus is spread by mosquito bites, and though rare, is sometimes fatal. After a handful of cases appeared in the news, the Emergency Operations Center was able to use its contacts in the business community to rapidly organize a widespread and effective public-awareness campaign. Locals and visitors alike now know what steps to take to keep themselves safe, and the number of new cases of BSV has been minimal.
